After 24 years in manufacturing and eight years of hidden weekend cocaine and alcohol use, Al Richards lost a job to a dirty UA in 2009 and used the collapse as the structural turning point, getting sober, rebuilding through fitness, and eventually launching The Other Side of Addiction podcast (367 episodes and counting on Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and Facebook as AR The Other Side of Addiction). Al Richards co-created the Healing Utah Success Summit with Mallerie Jacobs to give Utah operators, families, and recovering addicts a live stage where vulnerability becomes the inspiration that pulls others out of hiding.
